Suicide attempt
A suicide attempt ((ラテン語:tentamen suicidii)) is an attempt where a person tries to commit suicide but survives. It is often referred to as failed suicide attempt or nonfatal suicide attempt.

In the U.S., the NIMH reports there are 11 nonfatal suicide attempts for every suicide death.〔Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. Many figures there taken from Reducing suicide: a national imperative, Goldsmith SK, Pellmar TC, Kleinman AM, Bunney WE, editors.〕 By these numbers, approximately 92-95% of suicide attempts end in survival.
